PlayerSells reads X's own trends feed for 72 places: worldwide, 45 countries and 26 cities. The board is not re-ranked, filtered or blended - a topic appears because X put it on its own list for that location, in the order X returned it. The worldwide board above currently holds 30 trends, read from X 5 minutes ago.

Each location is refreshed at most once every 360 minutes and is shared across every visitor, which is what keeps 72 pages from hammering the read path. When the upstream fails, the last snapshot is served for up to 24 hours and is labelled as an older snapshot on the page. Past 24 hours it is not served at all: the board switches to an unavailable notice.

That ceiling exists because of a real failure. When the paid trends endpoint behind this page ran out of balance on 11 August 2026, the fallback kept serving the snapshot from that day under the words "Live" and "Updated throughout the day" for thirteen days, and nothing looked broken. A board that renders perfectly and is weeks out of date is the worst outcome available, so the freshness label on this page is now computed from when the data was actually pulled rather than written into the template.
